The Torrance Sebastian Project had its genesis in late 2019 when Torrance was introduced to The Vault Recording’s Bob McCutcheon and Grammy-award winning engineer and producer Jimmy Hoyson during a high school class trip to the studio. Soon after, Torrance recorded some of her music with Hoyson at The Vault. After those early sessions, Jimmy introduced Torrance to producer Rob Deaner to discuss developing her music further, but the pandemic of 2020 pushed that down the road. Torrance and Hoyson remained in contact during her college years so that when she was nearing graduation, she reapproached Hoyson and Deaner with a few new songs she had.

Coincidentally at this time, Deaner had approached Torrance about singing a few background vocals for a record he was working on. Intrigued by Rob’s approach to producing Sebastian asked Deaner if he would help develop arrangements for these new song demos with the mindset of “why not, the worst he can say is no”. Deaner agreed to start with one of the songs and “see where it takes us”.

“Puppet” was the first song recorded in September of 2024. Originally written on acoustic guitar, it morphed into a moody and epic arrangement. Spending countless hours in the studio crafting arrangement and lyrics Deaner and Torrance have discovered a lucrative musical relationship. Deaner works as a producer, arranger, instrumentalist, and cowriter. The songs often start with an idea that Sebastian brings in, with some being more initially developed than others. Her craft has evolved through the year as she is challenged to elevate her writing and vocal approach.

“The Torrance Sebastian Project” is Torrance’s first professional release. Signed to The Vault Records in 2024, Sebastian’s debut single “Panic Button” was released on July 11, 2025. “Panic Button” is the second song that Sebastian and Deaner worked on. It is a driving piece featuring a blend of rock and electronic influences with an explosive chorus that keeps listeners on edge. The song explores themes of tension and escape, and it promises a few surprises for the listener. We can’t wait for you to hear it!
